INTERCULTURAL STUDIES
ETHNOGRAPHIC (CULTURAL) RESEARCH OF CAMBODIAN-AMERICANS
FALL 2019
As part of a "Community-Based Research" course and in partnership with Cyprus Church, our team conducted ethnographic research (i.e. study of a people group's culture) on Cambodian-Americans living in and near Cambodia Town (Long Beach, CA).

In this project, we utilized a variety of qualitative research strategies (i.e. interviews, physical trace analysis, cognitive maps, and observation) to assess Cambodian culture. From this, we drew general conclusions about Cambodian culture and organized our findings in a final report that was distributed to Cyprus Church's leadership to review and implement in their community outreach.
PROJECT EVALUATION OF
JOYA SCHOLARS
SPRING 2019
After learning about strategies of monitoring and evaluation in development contexts, our team conducted an evaluation on Joya Scholars' (a non-profit in Orange County) mentorship program.

To do so, we met with Joya's staff to strategize their assessment needs and design data collection instruments, which we used to interview stakeholders.

After collecting data, we analyzed our findings and summarized them in a multi-dimensional report (attached below).
REVISION OF WOMEN'S HEALTH PROJECT IN BANGLADESH
FALL 2020
The final project of my "Community Development" course was to reinvent an existing community development project from a case study we read earlier in the semester.

Our team chose to revise a women's health and fertility project that focused on providing contraceptives to wives of migrant workers living in Bangladesh. We thought strategically and creatively to further develop the author's thoughts by expanding her work to confront systemic issues that led to a weakened economy and the disempowerment of women.
